The most flexible conductor
Our jump leads have class 6 conductors to IEC 60228 — made of a great many fine strands. They coil easily and do not break at the clamps.

Pure copper
What CCA is and why we do not use it
CCA (copper clad aluminium) is an aluminium conductor with a thin copper coating. From the outside it looks like copper and it is much cheaper — which is why it ends up in cheap jump leads and installation cables.
Aluminium conducts electricity about 40% worse than copper. At the same cross-section a CCA cable has higher resistance: it heats up more and less current reaches the starter. In practice that means a weaker start — especially with a diesel, especially in winter.
Aluminium also copes worse with repeated bending, breaks more easily at the clamps, and its connections oxidise over time and lose contact. That is why every cable we manufacture uses copper only.

How to recognise a good cable
No laboratory needed. Four simple checks you can do in a workshop or a garage.
Scrape a strand
Scrape a single strand of the conductor with a knife. Copper is copper all the way through. In CCA a silvery core appears under the thin coating.
Weigh the cable
Copper is more than three times heavier than aluminium. A cable of the same cross-section and length that is clearly lighter is a warning sign.
Bend it in the frost
Leave the cable out in the frost or in a freezer overnight and try to coil it. A good sheath stays flexible, a poor one stiffens and cracks.
Look at the conductor, not the insulation
What counts is the actual copper cross-section. Thick insulation can hide a thin conductor — compare the conductor itself, not the diameter of the whole cable.
